The Police spokesperson in Imo state, Orlando Ikeokwu, confirmed the incident to newsmen on Monday.

Ikeokwu pointed out that no official complaint had been logged at any of the police formations in the state.

He noted, though, that the state commissioner of Police, Isaac Akinmoyede, had activated the tactical units of the command in a bid to rescue the bishop from the hands of the kidnappers.

The anti-kidnapping and Quick Intervention Units of the Police command had been mandated by the CP with the task of ensuring the immediate release of the victims, Ikeokwu stated.
