Oyedepo made the speech on tuesday at the opening session of the Shiloh 2019 programme tagged ‘Breaking Limits’.

The cleric described the hate speech bill currently being considered for passage by the Nigerian Senate as “one of the most crazy ideas”.

Bishop Oyedepo also described the Social Media Bill as an attempt to gag Nigerians from criticizing the Government.

“They said hate speech. One of the most crazy ideas. So, if you are wrong they shouldn’t tell you you’re wrong?” he qustioned. “Who are you?  That you hang somebody? Road is bad and you can’t say road is bad because it is hate speech? You can silence everybody, not a prophet. A prophet is answerable to God. What God says to him, he says.”

He criticized the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration for allegedly putting the country in a total mess and attempting to stop the citizens from speaking up.

“Are we going forward or backward as a nation? Are the roads better now than before?” he asked.

“I don’t know if anyone else loves Nigeria more than I do. I love this nation with passion. I called the first fasting and prayer in 1979. Three days of dry fast, praying for heaven’s intervention to keep Nigeria in peace.

“Let hands be joined together so that the wicked shall not go unpunished. They are not hanging killers; they want to hang hate speakers. I have never seen a thing like that. Anyway, that is dead already.

“Prophets are the conscience of the people. They hear from God and say thus sayeth the Lord. If the wicked will not stop wickedness, God will stop the wickedness of the wicked.” Bishop Oyedepo added.
