‘Boko Haram Journalist’ Vows To Expose Those Threatening Him

Ahmad Salkida, a journalist known for having links to the top echelon of Boko Haram, has vowed to henceforth expose anyone that threatens him.

He made this known in a tweet on Friday afternoon.

Salkida said the move had become necessary to forestall further threats from persons who had made threatening him their favourite pastime.

Salkida became popular for several insider stories on the Boko Haram insurgency, and being the last journalist to have interviewed slain Boko Haram founder, Muhammad Yusuf.

The Biu, Borno State-born journalist was declared wanted, alongside two others, by the Nigerian Army in 2016 for alleged links with Boko Haram after videos of the Chibok girls surfaced online.

Others declared wanted alongside Salkida were (Ambassador) Ahmed U. Bolori and Aisha Wakil aka Mama Boko Haram.

In the Friday tweet, the popular journalist disclosed that he had lodged over 50 complaints of threats to life to security agencies over the years but the threats have persisted.

He said he was being left with no other choice than to publish the phone numbers and voice records of anyone that threatens him.

He tweeted, “Hence forth, I will tweet phone numbers, with voice records of anyone that threatens me. In the last six years, I’ve reported close to 50 numbers, including an assault in 2012 to the authorities, no one has ever been arrested or tried and the attacks grow from online to offline.”
