Residents of communities in the northeast where Nigeria military forces are battling the dreaded terrorist group, Boko Haram have been warned against allowing their facilities to be used by the group.

The residents are expected to report such situations to the military or risk losing the facilities altogether.

This directive was given by the Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, Maj-Gen. Yusha’u Abubakar, in a press conference in Maiduguri on Friday.

Operation Lafiya Dole is a Nigeria Army-led counter-terrorism operation commissioned to end the Boko Haram insurgency in the North East.

According to Maj-Gen. Abubakar, “Any facilities that is used to make bombs or used to dress suicide bombers would be levelled.”

He reiterated the Army’s commitment  to putting a quick end to the Boko Haram menace, which is in tandem with President Muhammadu Buhari’s directive to service chiefs to end the insurgency by November.

He urged residents to be security conscious and report all suspicious movements in their localities to security agencies.

In his assessment of the level of damage done in the October 1st bombing in Maiduguri, he stated that 14 people were killed and 39 others wounded.
