The Abubakar Shekau faction of Boko Haram has notified the military of an imminent attack on a military base in Jiddari-Polo, Maiduguri, Borno State.

According to AFP, Boko Haram passed the message through a survivor of an attack on a group of farmers in the area on Monday.

Four farmers were killed and another severely injured in the attack, the news agency reported.

A survivor, Mala Umara, 75, said the Boko Haram terrorists stormed the location in large numbers.

He added that after killing four men and leaving one injured, the insurgents told him that they spared his life so that he could convey the message of an imminent attack to the military.

“They asked me to deliver a message to the soldiers that they should be prepared for an attack soon,” Umara said.

AFP quoted a local militia leader, Babakura Kolo, as confirming the attack.

The threat is coming barely two weeks after similar threats preceded a devastating attack on the 157 Task Force Battalion of the Nigerian Army in Melete, Guzamala Local Government Area of Borno State.

Scores of soldiers were reported killed in the attack which occurred on Sunday, November 18.
