Bordeaux signs Arsenal captain, Koscielny for €5m

Arsenal captain, Laurent Koscielny has drawn the curtains on his nine-year spell at the London club with a move to Ligue 1 club Bordeaux.

Coach Unai Emery reportedly tried fruitlessly to convince Koscielny to stay at the club, the 33-year-old has eventually moved on a €5m (£4.6m) deal

Koscielny had stressed his intention to return to his home country, France, and even mulled a free transfer to nail this.

His first choice was to join Rennes but the two clubs were unable to agree a fee.

Koscielny, who occupies the club’s central back, leaves a space for Arsenal to urgently fill.

SkySports reports that the club is interest in RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano, with Daniele Rugani from Juventus as a handy alternative.
