Borno Governor Zulum withdraws Land Titles of 10 Gas Stations for hoarding Fuel

Executive Governor of Borno state, Babagana Zulum has withdrawn the Rights of Occupancy of 10 fuel stations in Maiduguri who were caught hoarding fuel.

This was contained in a signed statement by Usman Jidda Shuwa, Secretary to the State Government (SSG) which he accused the fuel stations of intentionally sabotaging the state economy by taking advantage of the Coronavirus Pandemic to hoard fuel and later dispense it above the approved selling price of N123.50.

The statement reads;

“The Borno State Government has observed with dismay that some fueling stations operating within the state capital do not dispense Petroleum products in accordance with Federal Government regulations.

“The fueling stations are also engaged in economic sabotage by hoarding petroleum products and selling them above the approved price, the activities of these fulling stations their owners and operators is condemnable as they deliberately take the advantage of the COVID 19 pandemic to create untold hardship on the general public.

“The General Public are hereby informed that the following fueling stations are found guilty of the offences mentioned above.

1. TAFIDA BAFARI & CO. LTD, Kano Road

2. MAUZU IDRIS, Along Baga Road

3. OIL LINK, Opposite Flour Mills

4. TOTAL FILLING STATION, Kano Road

5. A. A. RANO LTD, Kano Road

6. NAN NAM, Kano Road

7. KAI MASHA ALLAHU, Kano Road

8. ALHAJI BUKAR KOLO, Kano Road

9. GALLE, Bye pass

10. KABS MARCHANT LTD, Damboa Road

“His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Borno State Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum Mni has directed the temporary withdrawal of their Right of Occupancy, pending the process of revocation of same in line with provisions of the Land Use Act and the powers vested on him by the same Act.

“Government hereby warns other filling stations to desists from such act of economic sabotage as the Borno State government will continue to monitor the activities of all filling stations and will not hesitate to take all necessary action within the ambiance of the law to bring them to justice”.

Zulum who visited some of the fuel stations unannounced forced them to sell petrol at the approved price of N123.50 per litre, The Nation reports.

It would be recalled that Femi Fani-Kayode a member of opposition party PDP applauded Zulum (APC member) as one of the most performing northern Governors in Nigeria.
