Brasserie – A Parisian Effect for Lagos Cuisine

3 Min Read

The first thing you notice when you get seated at the Brasserie is the vintage French feel which is no surprise as the restaurant is styled according to the authentic contemporary French brasserie of the 1920’s.

I was seated at a booth by a very friendly albeit eager waiter. The second thing you notice upon getting seated is the ambience; Brasserie caters to mostly the upper class working professional so it could feel a tad bit stiff.

There’s no a la carte menu as the lunch hour is a buffet hour which costs N7,500 per person.

There’s a decent selection of options if you love your cheese and salads. I settled on a starter of beef pepper soup and bread which was very peppery as the name indicates; I loved it!

As an authentic Nigerian, my main meal was pounded yam and ohazi soup which really got me daydreaming about home and my mother’s cooking. It was everything and more. I strongly recommend this soup if and when you do go to Brasserie. I topped my soup with stew; as Lagosians have recently taught me to do.

As a grown woman with a very sweet tooth; I was happy with the dessert options. I could have my sweet dessert and throw in a dice of fruit to console myself; which was exactly what I did by the way. It was double yummy, I promise.

As a wine lover, I loved their wine selection and I settled on a fruity Chardonnay white wine. If you are a wine or champagne lover; you would be happy with the wine list.

Overall it was a good experience and I would definitely have lunch there again.

If I had to put figures to my experience, it would be the below:

Staff – 3.5/5

Ambience – ⅖

Food – ⅘

Decor – ⅘

Affordability – ⅗

Overall experience is ⅗.

The service is overall decent but not excellent, the food that was available was tastefully prepared but I personally found the options limited. If you’re looking to wine and dine without breaking the bank in a vintage feel restaurant with a snob appeal then this is the perfect place for you.

If you’re interested in trying out the famous ohazi soup, Brasserie is located at
