Brazil Friendly: Theo Walcott wants to Play Up Front for England

Arsenal striker Theo Walcott has urged England manager Roy Hodgson to select him in his preferred position up front for the friendly against Brazil. Walcott has enjoyed success for Arsenal having been moved from the right wing to a more central position.

Walcott was speaking ahead of the Brazil friendly: “You need to get into the manager’s face at training. I’ve been unlucky with injuries coming into the England set-up. It’s about getting into the manager’s face and proving how good you are. Brazil is one of those games that everyone wants to be part of – the opportunity to play against them and test yourself against the best. If I can produce the form I’m in for Arsenal, hopefully, that will make England a better team.”

England will be looking to produce a statement of intent against the World Cup hosts Brazil in a glamor friendly this week. While England have lost a few players to injuries, they could partner Theo Walcott with Wayne Rooney up front in what would be a formidable strike force.
