Breaking: Court Sacks APC Rep Member In Kogi, Orders Rerun Election

The House of Representatives member representing Ajaokuta Federal Constituency in Kogi state, Mohammed Lawal, has been sacked by the court of appeal sitting in Abuja.

The Herald earlier reported that Lawal who is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), had won at the elections petitions tribunal in the state.

The court, in its ruling,  charged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct rerun elections in 21 polling units in the constituency. The appeal was filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s candidate, Aloysius Okino.

Meanwhile, The Herald reported that there was an uproar in Kogi state on Friday, October 25, as Federal High Court in Abuja confirmed the rejection of two candidates ahead of the governorship election in the state.

The Herald gathered that the court affirmed the decision of Independent National Electoral Commission  (INEC) to reject the candidates of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN) and the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP).

In his ruling, Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu, was said to  have delivered the two verdict on Friday, October 25, upholding the commission’s decision to reject the candidates.

Justice Ojukwu explained that the INEC took its decision based on its constitutional powers to reject the candidates after finding that both parties failed to comply with its deadline for the submission of candidates’ lists and nomination forms.
