A tanker filled with 33,000 litres of petroleum has exploded along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway on Wednesday, killing two and causing traffic gridlock.

The fire, which started in the early hours of Wednesday, has already wrecked several vehicles.

The truck was allegedly heading to a yet-to-be-identified petrol station, when it fell at Barracks Bus Stop. Residents revealed that the incident was caused by a failed section of the road.
