Justice A.T. Badamasi of the Kano State High Court on Monday issued an interim injunction barring the Kano State House of Assembly from further investigating the Governor, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje over allegations of bribery.

This followed an ex-parte application by one Muhammad Zubair, the National Coordinator of ‘Lawyers for Sustainable Democration of Nigeria’.

Represented by his counsel, Nuraini Jimoh, the plaintiff prayed the court to order the defendants to maintain the status quo pending the determination of the motion on notice, a request Justice Badamasi granted.

Joined as defendants in the suit are the Kano State House of Assembly, the House committee investigating the allegation against Governor Ganduje, and the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice in the state.

Justice Badamasi ruled,“The Respondents should be served before the closed (sic) of work today.

“Accelerated hearing is hereby ordered and the respondents are given 4 days to respond to this application after service.

“Parties should maintain status quo ante pending the determination of the motion on notice.”

He adjourned the case till November 12 for hearing.
