Bricklayer, 45, arraigned for attempting to touch hawker’s breast

A 45-year-old bricklayer, Bolaji Ajasa, appeared before Magistrate Banji Ayeomoni of an Okitipupa Magistrates’ Court, Ondo State on Friday for attempting to touch the breasts of a hawker, one Ajoke Ibisanmi.

The defendant of no fixed address is standing trial on a charge of unlawful assault.

The prosecutor, Insp. Zedekiah Orogbemi, told the court that the accused on Feb. 21 assaulted the complainant by hitting her with fist blow at a construction site at new Ayeka in Okitipupa.

Orogbemi said that the fracas ensued when the complainant refused the defendant to touch one of her breasts and other parts of her body.

The prosecutor said that the offence was punishable under Section 355 of the Criminal Code, Cap.37, Vol.1 Laws of Ondo State, 2006.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge leveled against him.

Magistrate Ayeomoni granted the defendant bail in the sum of N30, 000 and a surety in like sum.

The magistrate said that the surety must provide evidence of a year tax clearance as part of the bail conditions.

He adjourned the case until March 29 for further hearing. (NAN)
