BSEMA Boss Praises Gov Alia for Fiscal Discipline, Zero Borrowing Record
The Executive Secretary of the Benue State Emergency Management Agency (BSEMA), Dr. James Iorpuu, has commended Governor Hyacinth Alia for what he described as a rare display of fiscal discipline and accountability in governance.
Speaking with journalists in Makurdi, Dr. Iorpuu revealed that since assuming office, Governor Alia has not borrowed a single kobo from any financial institution—a feat he said reflects purposeful leadership and prudent economic management.
“For the governor to have not borrowed money from any financial institution since assumption of office is a clear indication of purposeful leadership and accountability,” Iorpuu stated.
He noted that Alia’s careful financial stewardship has restored public confidence in the state’s administration, enabling the government to focus on critical development projects without increasing Benue’s debt profile.
The BSEMA boss, who also serves as the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, dismissed a recent assessment that rated the Alia-led government as average. He insisted that the governor’s performance has far exceeded expectations, particularly in the areas of financial prudence and transparency.
According to him, Governor Alia’s approach to governance stands as a model for sustainable economic management and responsible leadership in Nigeria.
