Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have denied it was planning to sanction former chairman of the house appropriation committee, Abdulmumin Jubrin, for his relentless media campaign against the Speaker, Yakubu Dogara.

The party said it was not in a position to pass judgment on the current budget padding scandal.

This came after leaders of the APC on Tuesday, August 2, met with Jibrin, at the party’s secretariat in Abuja.

He met behind closed doors with the party’s national deputy chairman, North, Lawal Shuaibu; national secretary, Mala Buni; and vice-chairman, North-West, Inuwa Abdulkadiri.

Shuaibu said the party had already met with the speaker of the house, Yakubu Dogara.

He said, “This is strictly a consultation between a very great member of the party and party officials in respect of what is going on in the House of Representatives.

“There is nothing like passing any judgment against any member of the party; we will play our role as an umpire in this matter to see how we can restore peace and unity among our members.”

“But when certain things go off course, the party needs to call its members to know how best to reunite them. That is exactly what we did. We heard his side of the story. We earlier heard from the Speaker,” he added.
