Buhari appoints new members on Economic Advisory Council, EAC

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed new member son the Economic Advisory Council, EAC, which would replace the Economic Management Team, EMT. The new Economic Council will be reporting directly to the President.

This was contained in a statement issued by Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President Buhari. The statement also says that the Economic Management Team, headed by Prof. Yemi Osinbajo was already disbanded.

This translates that Prof. Osinbajo will no longer preside over the council’s weekly meetings nor receive reports since the new Council members will be reporting directly to the President.

The Economic Advisory Council, EAC, will offer advice to President Buhari on economic policies, involving economic growth, fiscal analysis and a range of global economic issues working co-operatively with the relevant heads of monetary and fiscal agencies and cabinet members.

“The EAC will have monthly technical sessions as well as scheduled quarterly meetings with the President. The Chairman may, however, request for unscheduled meetings if the need arises”, Femi Adesina added.

  1. Prof. Doyin Salami – Chairman
  2. Dr. Mohammed Sagagi – Vice-Chairman
  3. Prof. Ode Ojowu – Member
  4. Dr. Shehu Yahaya – Member
  5. Dr. Iyabo Masha – Member
  6. Prof. Chukwuma Soludo – Member
  7. Mr. Bismark Rewane – Member
  8. Dr. Mohammed Adaya Salisu – Secretary (Senior Special Assistant to the President, Development Policy)
