Buhari commiserates with Bishop Kukah over mother’s death

President Muhammadu Buhari has extended heartfelt condolences to the Most Rev. Matthew Hassan Kukah, Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, on the passing of his mother, Janet Hauwa Kukah.

The president’s condolence message was conveyed by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, in Abuja on Friday.

Buhari also commiserated with members of the family of Kukah, praying almighty God to grant the soul of the departed eternal rest.

The Herald can report that Mama Kukah died aged 86 in the early hours of Friday in Kaduna.

Mama Fada, as the deceased was fondly called, reportedly died surrounded by her immediate family members.

Mama Kukah was born on June 1934 at Katul village in the present Ikulu Chiefdom of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Before her demise, she was a dedicated member of the Zumunta Mata Catholic Church. She embarked on pilgrimage to Jerusalem in August 2000.
