Shittu says He has not violated the Constitution by Skipping NYSC

Following his failure to complete the compulsory NYSC service, President Muhammadu Buhari expects communications minister, Adebayo Shittu to resign

According to the Punch, Buhari has asked the minister to the ‘needful’

Recall that Shittu was disqualified from contesting in the APC party primaries along with ‘Mama Taraba’ and had in an interview claimed that he would be willing to partake in the one year NYSC service if that was what was necessary for him to attain office.

According to sources for the Punch, “The truth is that the President has made his position known to the minister and there are witnesses.

“What the President said was that people should not be waiting for him to act the way he did in the case of a former Minister of Finance (Mrs Kemi Adeosun) before they do what is needful.

“I am sure he is very clear on the matter the way he addressed the issue, and the minister understands this.”

Shittu is not the only minister to have fallen on his sword over the NYSC issue as former minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun was also forced to resign after she was discovered not to have done the NYSC program and even though there were attempts to cover this up, it did not work and finally she resigned and had to depart the country soon after when there were calls for legal prosecution.
