The Director of Strategic Communications for the Buhari Campaign Organisation, Festus Keyamo SAN, has disclosed that those accusing President Muhammadu Buhari of plotting to rig the 2019 presidential election did not take into cognisance the massive support he is currently getting across the country.
Keyamo made this known while reacting to the mammoth crowd that turned out in Sokoto for Buhari’s campaign in the state.
Recall that former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Defence Minister, Lt.-Gen. Theophilus Danjuma, recently accused Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) of plotting to rig the election.
While Obasanjo said that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) could not be trusted to conduct free and fair polls, Danjuma said that the ruling party had concluded plans to use the police and soldiers to subvert the will of the people.
But Keyamo said that contrary to such claims, Buhari would not need to rig any election to secure a second term in office because of the sheer number of Nigerians backing him.
Taking to his verified Twitter handle, Keyamo said, “When they see these sea of heads, they prepare to hide their faces in shame by alleging rigging plans.
“Pray, with this kind of support nationwide, why would PMB ever contemplate rigging?”
