Buhari okays committees to actualise Mambilla power project

The constitution of two committees for the Mambilla Hydroelectric Power Project in Taraba State has been approved by President Muhammadu Buhari.

They include the Inter-Ministerial Steering Committee (IMSC) and Project Delivery Committee (PDC).

This was contained in statement released by the minister of power, Sale Mamman, through his Special Adviser (SA) on Media,  Aaron Aritmas.

The statement read that Mamman will chair the Inter-Ministerial Steering Committee, while the Director in-charge of renewable energy in the federal ministry of power will head the Project Delivery Committee, reporting to the Minister through the Permanent Secretary.

The statement also said members of the Inter-Ministerial Steering Committee are: representatives of Federal Government agencies and Taraba State government.

It explained that the Federal Government agencies involved are: Ministries of Water Resources, Environment, Finance, Budget and National Planning, Works and Housing, Justice, Information and Culture, as well as Mines and Steel Development.

Earlier, The Herald reported that President Muhammadu Buhari signed 2019 finance bill into law. The bill would implement the 7.5% VAT increase.

The bill would exempts companies earning less than N25,000,000 annual income from paying tax. The president issued a statement on his verified Twitter account regarding the bill.
