In the midst of brutal violence in Benue state, President Buhari has spoken out, condemning the attacks and describing them as ‘one too many’.

He also directed security agencies to do everything in their power to make sure that the culprits are brought to book and that further attacks are averted.

He was quick to console the Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom.

The killings took place in the Guma and Logo local government areas of the state in the New Year.

In a statement by his senior special assistant on media and publicity, Garba Shehu, President Buhari said he was broken by the horrible things happening in Benue describing the attacks as “wicked and callous” that didn’t even spare children.

The President went on to pledge his unflinching support to bringing the perpetrators to book and make sure such a thing was not experienced again.

“This is one attack too many, and everything must be done to provide security for the people in our rural communities”, President Buhari said.

The President also had kind words for the families of those affected by the violence wishing them a speedy recovery and strength in this dark time in the nation’s history.
