President Muhammadu Buhari’s foreign medical trips began before his emergence as president in 2015, his media aide, Garba Shehu, has said.

Shehu, whose official title is Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, stated this at the departure wing of the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja, just after President Buhari departed the country for London for a “routine medical check-up”.

He said that the president was looking to take advantage of the Easter holidays to attend to his health.

Addressing reporters, the presidential aide said, “The President is looking at the window of opportunity that has opened with the Easter Holiday. It’s a much relaxed period for everyone –Good Friday, Easter Monday, National Holidays. Then, he will use that period for his regular medical check-up.
