President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed his answer to US President Donald Trump who accused him of killing Christians in Nigeria.

The Herald recalls that United States government placed Nigeria and 6 other countries under a Special Watch List (SWL) for “tolerating severe violation of religious freedom”.

US government took the decision after many Christians were repeatedly murdered in the North without any trace of the killers.

President Buhari who was at the Minister’s Review Retreat which held in Abuja disclosed Trump asked him reason behind the gruesome murder of Christians when he visited America in 2018.

According to him, Trump looked him straight in the eye before asking him pointblank “Why are you killing Christians?”

The Nigerian Leader replied Trump the problem between herders and farmers which resulted in many killings was culturally motivated assuring him it had nothing to do with religion.

Buhari said;

“I believe I was about the only African among the less developed countries, the president of United States invited, and when I was in his office only myself and himself, only God is my witness, he looked at me in the face, he said ‘why are you killing Christians?’” Buhari said.

“I wonder if you were the person how you will react. I hope what I was feeling inside did not betray my emotion.

“So, I told him that the problem between the cattle rearers and stagnant farmers I know is older than me not to talk of him (Trump). I think I am a couple of years older than him.

“With climate change and population growth and the culture of the cattle rearers, if you have 50 cows and they eat grass, any root to your water point, they will follow it, it doesn’t matter whose farm it is.” said President Buhari.
