Buratai Reveals Critical Buhari Directive That Won The War Against Boko Haram

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Burutai has attributed the success the Nigeria army has recorded in the fight against insurgency to the ‘strategic directive’ given by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Lt. Gen. Buratai while speaking at the conference on Peace Building and Reconstruction in Lake Chad Basin in Yola eulogized the leadership capacity of the President.

He noted that a single strategic directive of the president to relocate the Army Control Centre to Maiduguri boosted the morale of the troops fighting Boko Haram leading to success recording in uprooted the insurgents.

“I received a Presidential directive to move the Army Command and Control Center to Maiduguri and to subsequently defeat Boko Haram by December last year. This strategic directive provided the platform upon which we undertook the task which has largely been achieved,”

Buratai promised that the military will not desist from the onslaught until all displaced people had returned to their deserted towns and normalcy return to the region.

He however, thanked the legislators, governments of neighboring countries, the African Union and the international community for their support in the war against insurgency in Nigeria.
