US-based pastor and former presidential aide, Reno Omokri has faulted those attacking senior Christian clerics in Nigeria for not attending the burial ceremony of popular televangelist, Prophet TB Joshua.

Recall that TB Joshua, who founded the Lagos-based Synagogue Church of all Nations (SCOAN), died on June 5 and was buried on July 9.

Some prominent personalities that attended the burial ceremony were: Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu; Lagos state commissioner for home affairs, Prince Olanrewaju Elegushi, representing Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Olori Naomi Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the wife of the Ooni of Ife, His Royal Majesty King Willard Mswati Gomani from Malawi,Pastor Robert Acosta from Argentina, among others.

However, many Nigerians faulted senior clerics like Pastor Enoch Adeboye, Bishop David Oyedepo, Dr. Paul Enenche, Pastor WF Kumuyi, Pastor Tunde Bakare, Bishop Mike Okonkwo, Revd. Chris Okotie, and others for not attending the burial.

Responding in a video he shared on YouTube, Omokri said that the criticisms were misplaced.

Omokri, who founded the Mind of Christ Christian Centre, California, United States, said that examples abounded in the Bible that shows that burials are strictly a family affair.

He said that Jesus did not attend the burial of John the Baptist, whom he had addressed as his forerunner.

According to him, those calling on believers to fault their pastors for not attending TB Joshua’s burial are trying to create division in the house of God.
