Bus Conductor Dies On Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

A bus conductor died, and two passengers were injured when the bus rammed into a Honda car on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Wednesday.

The accident, occurred at the ASCON tankers’ park area while both vehicles were going inwards Ibafo-Mowe, in the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State according to a traffic report.

Babatunde Akinbiyi,  the Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, said the bus was speeding when one of its tyres burst, which made it lose control and crash into the Honda Civic car.

He said the bus conductor hit his head on an iron bar and died on the spot.

“A fatal auto crash occurred around 8.02am at the ASCON tankers’ park end of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. It involved a Vanagon commercial bus painted in Lagos colour and a Honda Civic car.

“One of the tyres of the bus burst and it rammed into the Honda Civic, making the conductor to hit his head on the iron bar in the bus. He died instantly. Two other passengers sustained injuries.”

He added that the vehicles had been taken to Ibafo Divisional Police headquarters, Ibafo, Ogun State, and the corpse of the conductor had been deposited in a mortuary.
