Governor Ajimobi has called out the Peoples Democratic Party and the Oyo State Governor-elect, Seyi Makinde over the continuous attack against his government.

He stated that the incoming governor should pay attention to developmental projects in the state and stop making negative statements about him, his family and the current government. He termed such attacks as a campaign of calumny.

Ajimobi mentioned that Seyi Makinde’s intention was to put stains on all he had worked on during the two terms he spent as the governor of the state.

His warnings were aired on Tuesday through a statement released by Bolaji Tunji, his Special Adviser on Communications and Strategy.

He further explained that the opposition party, PDP should rather embark on progressive plans for the state and building on the foundations he had laid down.

The governor equally urged that the consistent attacks should stop as it depicted that PDP was bitter, even weeks after the election had been conducted.

“Campaign of calumny will not last” – Ajimobi warns Oyo PDP

“It is disheartening that more than two weeks after the election, the opposition parties, especially the PDP, have carried on as if they are still campaigning.

“Now that elections have been won and lost, there should be an end to acrimonious and incendiary comments. Political discussion has moved from the pre-2011 era. Our focus is on the politics of issues and development.

“That is what we expect from them, not personal attacks and falsehood-laced statements indicating their unpreparedness for governance,” he said.

The statement also read, “I am not unaware that during campaigns, some politicians adopted the campaign of calumny as strategy believing it would give them an undue advantage, but such does not last.

“What the electorate expect is to be educated on their blueprint for the development of the state.”
