CAN chairman’s death: Apostle Suleman, others scold Buhari’s aide over comment

The special adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, has been scolded over his comments about the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

Recall that Adesina said the CAN speaks as if it is an opposition political party. This was in reaction to a statement by the association on the death of Lawan Andimi, CAN chairman of Michika local government in Adamawa state.

The Herald reported that Andimi was killed on Monday after N800 million ransom allegedly demanded by the insurgents was not paid.

Following Andimi’s death, the body had said Christians in the country have become endangered species, while also calling on President Buhari “to purge himself of the allegations of nepotism and religious favouritism by reconstituting the leadership of security outfits”.

Adesina wrote an article on Friday, January 24, asking the Christian body to purge itself of narratives aimed at discrediting the Buhari administration.

One of those who have spoken out against the presidential aide is Apostle Johnson Suleman. The cleric said certain positions should be given to people who have heads, even if they lack brains.

He wrote: “Such an insensitive man is a presidential media aide? Certain positions should be given to people who have heads..even if they lack brains, we can manage ‘just head‘.”
