The police on Thursday docked a 36-year-old cashier, Adams Shaibu, in a Zuba Upper Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly absconding with his employer’s N1.93million.

Shaibu, of Total Filling Station, Gwarinpa, Abuja, is facing a two-count charge of breach of trust and theft.

The prosecutor, Mr Chinedu Ogada, told the court that the matter was reported by one David Atta, manager of the station, at the Gwarinpa Police Station, Abuja, on Oct. 16, 2017.

Ogada said that the defendant was employed as a cashier in the said filling station, but on Oct. 16, 2017, he criminally absconded with the company’s “N1,926, 800 to unknown destination and was later arrested.’’

The prosecutor told the court that when the defendant heard that the matter was reported to the police, he relocated with his family to unknown place.

He explained that the defendant could not give satisfactory account of the said money, while the offence contravened Sections 312 and 288 of the Penal Code.

The defendant pleaded not guilty and the judge, Alhaji Gambo Garba, granted him bail in the sum of N1 million with one surety in like sum.

The case was adjourned until July 1 for further hearing.
