The 57-year-old American singer and Actress, Madonna has incurred the wrath of the Catholic Church based on the performance she put together for her New Zealand show.

The Singer had in her world tour Show employed the use of Catholic symbols such as the holy water, sexy nuns (gyrating on cross shaped stripper poles), crucifix and others for her performance which apparently didn’t go down well with the religious body.

Speaking ahead of her New Zealand gig, Catholic Bishop of Auckland labelled the act as ‘hugely offensive’.

Bishop Pat Dunn, Speaking in an interview with RadioLive said; “There’s always a fine line … about artistic expression and how free artists can be. I find it hugely offensive. I bet every penny I’ve got that Madonna wouldn’t dare say or use lyrics that were offensive to Islam because people would be outraged. I find it very difficult to grasp how (Madonna) can say things that are so offensive and so insulting, when she does claim tobbe Christian. Artists have to be a little bit sensitive to values that are held by people in our society.”

The biggest selling female recording artist of all time, Madonna, raised as a Catholic girl was accused of insulting her faith and upbringing in the provocative use of the Catholic symbols by the Catholic Church.
