CBN(Central Bank of Nigeria) issued a statement on Thursday night that it had uncovered and aborted a highly sophisticated plot to defraud it by some criminally-minded elements.
The bank also stated that all key personnel involved in the transaction have been placed on suspension in order to ensure a full and unfettered investigation although it noted that preliminary investigations so far had not revealed any accomplices within the CBN.
The Acting Director, Corporate Communications, CBN, Mr. Isaac Okorafor, stated, “This incidence has been reported to relevant authorities.
“The CBN wishes to assure the general public that the security of the bank remains intact,” he added.
