Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) has raised alarm on calculated efforts to silence Femi Falana (SAN), Human rights Lawyer and Legal counsel for Omoyele Sowore.

This is coming after a group of people who call themselves Save Nigeria Movement asked that the Human rights lawyer stop the intimidation of security agencies.

In a rally which took place in Abuja on Thursday, Save Nigeria Movement members were seen carrying placards with inscriptions like “Falana enough is enough” , “Falana stop blackmailing Nigerian military”.

However, Osagie Obayuwana, national President of CDHR has slammed the group, saying they are only pawns used and will later be dumped by Sponsors after their goal has been achieved.

According to Osagie, the Sponsors of this group have only one goal, to silence Falana.

“From all indications, the group was set up solely for the purpose and their expressed aim ‘To defend Nigeria’s Security Agencies from intimidation by Mr. Falana’ speaks volumes as to who their funders are. Even while we recognize that there is hunger in the land, it is detestable that there are Nigerians available these days for hire, to do such a dirty job,” the statement read.

Osagie could not understand how a Human rights lawyer could intimidate DSS and the Nigerian Army.

“How on earth can it be said that Mr. Femi Falana by virtue of his pronouncements out of Court and submissions before judges can intimidate the DSS and the Army, to such an extent that these agencies now need protection?”

This new group may or may not have been formed in connection with the continued detention of Omoyele Sowore, convener of #RevolutionNow and Publisher of Sahara Reporters.

Femi Falana, Sowore’s legal counsel whose frantic efforts to get his client out of DSS custody have been frustrated consistently.
