Cecil the Lion’s Killing: Collaborator Nabbed For Animal Smuggling

1 Min Read

A Zimbabwean man identified as Theo Bronkhorst, who police say helped American dentist Walter Palmer kill Cecil the Lion, has been arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle sable antelopes into South Africa.

Spokeswoman for the Zimbabwean Police, Charity Charamba said the man is now in police custody in the city of Bulawayo.

Bronkhorst, who had been arrested and later granted bail over the killing of the 13-year-old lion, may soon be charged to court over the latest incident.

The killing of the lion sparked a worldwide outcry, which the BBC reports led to a ban by airlines of the transport of parts of lions and other animals killed by hunters in the region.
