Senator for Kaduna Central in the 8th Senate, Senator Shehu Sani, says Nigeria’s 60th independence anniversary must be celebrated prayer and optimism.

The human rights activist said that the celebrations must not portray those celebrating as dancing on the corpses of victims of insecurity.

Sani disclosed this in a Thusday tweet, a day after President Muhammadu Buhari unveiled the theme and logo for the commemorative activities to celebrate 60 years of independence in Abuja.

Speaking at the unveiling, Buhari described Nigeria as the most prosperous black nation in the world.

Taking to Twitter, Sani wrote, “Let’s appreciate and celebrate our 60 years with prayers and optimism; Let’s not Toast and Dance on corpses of the victims of insecurity.”
