Certificate of Return: Traditional dancers besiege INEC office to celebrate Sanwo-Olu, Hamzat

Traditional dancers and drummers on Friday besieged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Lagos State Office, as Lagos Governor-elect, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Deputy Governor, Dr Obafemi Hamzat received their Certificate of Return.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that long before the commencement of the ceremony, the traditional singers had arrived to cheer the dignitaries.

The dancers, who were chanting different praise songs to celebrate Sanwo-Olu and Hamzat’s victory at the March 9 Governorship and House of Assembly elections, were seen in two groups with traditional attires.

NAN reports that the security within and outside the INEC premises was also tight as invited guest were thoroughly screened before being allowed into the premises.

Sanwo-Olu and Hamzat are billed to collect their certificates of return at the event which started at 11 a.m.

The Governor-elect and the Deputy Governor-elect arrived in INEC office at exactly 10.55 a.m. to the cheer of the dignitaries and journalists who were already waiting.

INEC had announced that it would later release the date it would present the certificates of return to the 40 state lawmakers-elect in the state.
