Chelsea: Sarri Reacts to Disappointing Defeat

Chelsea coach Maurizio Sarri says he’s worried at the team’s response to going down against Wolverhampton Wanderers

The Blues took the lead through Ruben Loftus-Cheek, but then went down by two goals from Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota.

That makes it two defeats in 3 games for Sarri’s men after losing to Tottenham Hotspur last week.

“I think that we played very well for 55 minutes,” Sarri told reporters. “After the goal, it was an accident because we were in full control of the match. We were suddenly a different team, I don’t know why.

“I am really very worried, not for the result but for the fact we didn’t respond to the first goal.”

The tactician who enjoyed a stellar start to the campaign also let out his frustration as to how Wolves got back into the game.

“Of course I am disappointed. We played very well in the first half. We could have killed the game.

“It’s very difficult for me to understand why. There was time to win the match. I can’t understand the reaction.”

Chelsea sit 10 points behind league leaders Manchester City and have the unenviable task of facing off against the Champions in their next game.

Sarri still feels his team has a chance against the citizens though: “As I said before, City are in another category. They are not in our category. We have to play and to fight to be in the top four,” he added. “The result is very difficult for this.

“In every match you have to gain points. I lost Serie A with 91 points, so I know every match you have to gain points.

“City are the best in Europe, maybe in the world, they can win the Champions League, but it depends on moments. If you have to play against them for 10 months they are the best in the world at the moment.

“After this match we lost confidence, but maybe it is better. Sometimes my players show me they have too much confidence.”
