Chelsea Suffer Fresh Injury Setback as Enzo Fernández Withdraws from Argentina Squad
Chelsea have been handed another injury concern ahead of their Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest next weekend, as midfielder Enzo Fernández has withdrawn from international duty due to a knee issue.
According to football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the 24-year-old left the Argentina national team camp after experiencing swelling in his knee. As a result, Fernández will miss Argentina’s friendly match against Puerto Rico on Wednesday and is returning to London for further assessment.
The midfielder, who joined Chelsea from Benfica in 2023, has been one of the club’s standout performers in midfield. The Blues will now be hoping he can recover in time to feature in their upcoming league fixture against Nottingham Forest at Stamford Bridge.
Fernández’s potential absence adds to Chelsea’s ongoing injury worries, as manager Enzo Maresca continues to deal with a depleted squad early in the season.
