Chelsea win FA Cup

Chelsea football club have emerged as the winners of the 2017/2018 FA cup with a narrow 1-0 win against Manchester United.

This has gone a long way in making up for the FA Cup final loss to Arsenal last year that Chelsea suffered. It also marks the first time that Antonio Conte has won a cup final.

The game started in cagey fashion as both teams felt each other out. Eden Hazard had a chance after weaving his way into the box, but David De Gea made a good save from a tight angle.

In the 21st minute, Chelsea got a break. Hazard controlled well from a clearance and got past Phil Jones, the England international tried to get back, he eventually did, but his tackle was clumsy and Chelsea were awarded a penalty.

The winner of the penalty was also the taker of the penalty and Hazard stepped up and sent De Gea the wrong to put Chelsea up 1-0.

Manchester United fought hard to equalise but were met by a resolute Chelsea defence.

In the second half Manchester United took things up a notch but were well held by Chelsea who were tidy in their defending and their tackling.

Lukaku who was an injury scare was kept on the bench to be used only as a last resort. He eventually had to come in along with Martial. Rashford and Lindgard made way, but it was all for nought as they were unable to equalize.

In the battle of former Gunners, Olivier Giroud won his second FA Cup trophy in a row but with a different team while Alexis Sanchez has to make do with a runners-up title.

It may well be Antonio Conte’s last match as Chelsea manager, but if it is, then he ended it in the best way possible.
