Chris Brown Declares: “I’ve Done Music Without Help for 20 Years”

American R&B star Chris Brown has issued a strong message to fans and music pundits, urging them to stop comparing him to other artists unless those artists have achieved success without external help.
In a post shared on his Instagram story on Sunday, Brown emphasized that his two-decade-long career has been built on self-effort and perseverance, despite challenges from the media.

“I wish y’all stop comparing me to other artists and saying me vs someone else,” he wrote. “Until one of these artists do all the sh*t by themselves with no help and the media constantly f**king with them, then come holla at me.”
The ‘Under The Influence’ crooner, who has often been compared to pop icons like Michael Jackson, Usher, and Akon, stressed that he’s been in the industry primarily to make a living, not for accolades or comparisons.
Brown, 36, rose to fame in the mid-2000s and has remained one of the most influential figures in R&B, known for his vocal talent, dance skills, and relentless work ethic. Despite facing numerous controversies and industry setbacks, the Grammy winner has released multiple chart-topping albums and singles with little reliance on major promotional pushes.
Over the years, he has also been likened to artists such as Trey Songz, T-Pain, Mario, and Nelly, but Brown insists his journey has been uniquely independent.
“I’ve been doing this for 20 years,” he added. “I’m still here, still consistent, and still pushing without the industry spoon-feeding me.”
