“I’m surprised some people wish me death” – Christian Chukwu
Former Super Eagles Head Coach and captain, Christian Chukwu has expressed surprise that some people wish him death.
He stated this while debunking rumour circulating about his purported demise.
Recall that Christian Chukwu celebrated his 70th birthday on January 4 and President Muhammadu Buhari congratulated him on the occasion.
Since then, rumour has been making the rounds about his death.
“I am terribly embarrassed with this news that I am dead. Several people have been calling me from across the world since the news broke.
“I am still investigating the source of the story,” Chukwu, who was known as ‘Chairman’ in his playing days, said.
He maintained that that God was in control of his life, advising journalists and social media influencers to always investigate and get their facts right before writing.
Chukwu was in the company of some of his close associates, including Barry Diala, Joseph Agu and his kinsman, Peter Agu when he granted the interview, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported.
Recall that in 2019, billionaire businessman, Femi Otedola provided $50,000 for Christian Chukwu’s treatment abroad.
The ex-footballer had been suffering from prostate cancer.
