Civil Servant faces Imprisonment for Committing Adultery

In a world were casual sex is commonplace and marriages fail because of sexual impropriety and indiscipline it becomes strange when an individual faces deprivation of freedom because of something supposedly as common as adultery.

This is the case of Abdurahman Ibrahim, a 29 year old civil servant with the Katsina state government who has been arraigned before a magistrate court for committing adultery with a married woman.

Ibrahim was arrested by police and arraigned before the magistrate court on charges of criminal trespass and adultery which are contrary to sections 348 and 387 of the Nigerian Penal Code.

Ibrahim was accused before the court of been repeatedly having sex with the housewife identified as Hauwau Dikko, both in her matrimonial home at Turaruka Quarters, Katsina and in  Batsari.

The husband of the woman in question Abubakar Kankiya discovered the sexual affair and reported the matter to the police in Katsina on September 12.

Ibrahim pleaded guilty to the charges against him and opted for a summary trial; his sentencing by the magistrate court has been fixed for October, 4 2018.

Police First Information Report read in the court by police prosecutor, Inspector Sani Ado, said the accused deceived Dikko and had sex with her several times.

On September 12, at about 1800 hours,one Abubakar Rabiu Kankiya of Turaruka Quarters,Katsina, reported at CP’s Surveillance team,Shagari Low Cost, Katsina against you, AbduRahman Ibrahim,29 years of Unguwar Alkali Quarters,Batsari,Batsari Local Government Area that on several occasions,the suspect deceived and had carnal knowledge unlawfully with his wife, named Hauwau Dikko, in his matrimonial house and other places at Batsari town.” The charge sheet read.

Upon entering a guilty plea, the presiding magistrate, Hajiya Fadile Dikko, subsequently fixed Ibrahim’s sentencing for next Thursday while he ordered that he should be remanded in prison custody till the sentencing.
