Byam, who made the plea on Sunday in Jos, said that all Christians must strive to be obedient to the word and leading of God at all times.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the pastor anchored the church’s teaching series on: “Godliness is profitable unto all things,” (1Timothy 4: 8).

He read from the Bible’s Book of Proverbs Chapter 23 Verse 23, Matthew:13:44 and Hebrew 12: 1-4, and urged Christians to stay away from all sinful acts.

“So many people are suffering in different places because they have refused to obey God’s word and have continued to live in sin.

“Some of you live in fornication, adultery and even steal and defraud others and still come to church and expect that God will hear when you pray.

“This will never happen as God cannot compromise his standards,” he said.

Byam said that treating God’s word with levity would make Him not to treat man with integrity and God could not be mocked, stressing that “whatsoever a man planted, that also he would reap’’.

According to him, “consequently, if a man refuses to obey God and live righteously, he has opened the doors to the devil to torment and kill him, for the wages of sin is death’’.

He said that the prayers of a sinful man were an abomination to God and the only cry from a sinner should be that of repentance and mercy.

The Minister, therefore, begged everyone to stay away from sin and every appearance of evil, so as to make heaven and be defended by God on earth.
