CMD Lauds Akeredolu on Preventive Measures Against Covid-19 Pandemic

Dr Oluwole Ige, the Chief Medical Director, University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital (UNIMEDTHC),  has commended Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for proactive preventive measures to contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.

Ige made the commendation while addressing reporters in Ondo on Wednesday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Gov. Akeredolu had shut down social gatherings and markets to curb the spread of the virus.

Others include banning of public and political gatherings, as well as closing down schools.

The governor also directed civil servants from Grade Levels 1 to 12, to stay at home.

According to him, the steps are not carried out to make people suffer but to ensure people observe social distancing.

He urged people of the state to observe precautionary measures like regular hand washing, use of sanitizers, use of nose and mouth masks among others.

Ige pointed out that Ondo state was one of the states in Nigeria that had not recorded any confirmed case of COVID-19,  saying that the state government was not relenting in taking proactive steps to curb the spread of the deadly virus.

“As at now, we do not have any confirmed case of COVID 19. All the steps taken so far by the government should be commended.

“The government is determined to ensure that it prevents the disease from spreading to the state,” he said.

Ige said that those who were in essential duties are working round the clock to provide services to patients suffering from other diseases.
