Commission promotes 1, 670 senior police officers

The Police Service Commission (PSC), has approved the promotion of 1,670 senior police officers to their next ranks.
This is contained in a statement issued in Abuja on Saturday by Mr Ikechukwu Ani, Head, Press and Public Relations of the commission.
It said the approval was conveyed to the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Solomon Arase on June 3.

The statement said a commissioner of police was elevated to the rank of AIG, 10 assistant commissioner’s to deputy commissioners, five CSPs to ACP and six SPs to CSPs.

Others are four DSPs to SPs, and 1,540 Inspectors to ASPs.

The statement said that three DCPs, five ACPs, four CSPs, three SPs, five DSPs and 127 ASPs were promoted on acting appointments.

It said that approvals and acting appointments take immediate effect.

The statement said the Chairman of the commission, Mr Mike Okiro, wished the beneficiaries the best, urging them to reciprocate the good gesture by rededicating themselves to the service of the nation.
He promised that the commission would continue to ensure that deserving policemen were promoted as and when due to serve as motivation for effective and efficient service. (NAN)
