Barcelona won their 30th and fourth-straight Copa dey Rey title with a 5-0 bashing of Sevilla on Saturday night and, as usual, Lionel Messi shone brightly.

The diminutive Argentine, scored one and provided two assists in a dominant Barca performance.

The goal, Messi’s sixth in a Copa del Rey final, meant he equalled the record of scoring in five different Copa del Rey finals set by Telmo Zarra that has stood for 68 years.

Zarra scored in the 1942, 1943, 1944, 1945 and 1950 finals.

Messi has so far scored in three finals against Athletic Bilbao (2009, 2012 and 2015), Alaves (2017) and now Sevilla (2018).

He failed to score against Real Madrid on two occasions (2011 and 2014) and against Sevilla in 2016.

In the final played at Atletico Madrid’s Estadio Wanda Metropolitano, the 30-year-old Messi also pushed his goal tally against Sevilla to 32 in 34 appearances.
