Coronavirus: Cases In Nigeria Spike Up To 26 On Sunday

The number of recorded cases of coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria has spiked up to 26 on Sunday, March 22, as four new cases have been recorded both in Lagos State and Oyo State.

 

According to reports, Oyo state recorded its first case of coronavirus on Saturday, while Lagos state recorded three new cases on Sunday.

 

The Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde had confirmed that the suspected case of Covid-19 in Ibadan, the state’s capital, tested positive to coronavirus at 5:30pm on Saturday.

 

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC announced that Lagos State recorded three new cases on Sunday morning, bringing the total number to 26 in Nigeria.

 

Reports have however confirmed that no death has been recorded so far in the country, and two of the 26 cases have been treated and discharged.

The commissioner of health in Lagos State, Prof Akin Abayomi had announced that the Italian, the index case of coronavirus disease in Nigeria, has recovered and now tests negative.

 

The commissioner who disclosed this during a press conference on Thursday said that the Italian will be tested one more time and will be released if negative.
