Coronavirus: Nigeria’s first patient, Italian tests negative after treatment

The first case of deadly Coronavirus in Nigeria, an Italian who arrived Nigeria few weeks ago via a Turkish Airlines flight has now tested negative to the virus after receiving medical treatment from health experts.

Prof. Akin Abayomi made this known while addressing journalists at a Press briefing on Thursday, March 20, 2020.

He disclosed the Italian was on his way to recovery but the tests will be conducted again at a later time to ascertain he is totally free from COVID-19.

It would be recalled that Nigeria recorded her first case of the dreaded virus on February 27, 2020 after an Italian who arrived from Milan began showing Coronavirus symptoms at Lafarge Africa Plc, Ewekoro, Ogun State.

Meanwhile, Lagos state has confirmed four new cases of the virus which brings the total numberof recorded cases to 12 in Nigeria.

In a bid to curb contraction of the disease, House of Reps has banned religious centres such as churches and mosques from conducting services and Juma’at prayers.
