Coronavirus: This is not the time for self-induced prophecies – Poju Oyemade warns Christian prophets

The Senior Pastor of Covenant Christian Centre, Lagos, Pastor Poju Oyemade, has warned Christian clerics against releasing “self-induced” prophecies about coronavirus.

The preacher, who hosts the popular The Platform forum, issued the warning in a tweet on Tuesday.

Oyemade said that it was wrong to declare the global pandemic over when the necessary “spiritual and mental work” had not been completed.

According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), 131 persons have been confirmed infected with the virus in Nigeria so far.

The President, Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday imposed a lockdown of Lagos and Ogun States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to halt the spread of the virus.

Meanwhile, many prophets in the country have been prophecying an end to the virus.

Popular televangelist, TB Joshua had famously prophesied that the disease would die a natural death on March 27th.

But taking to Twitter, Oyemade wrote, “This is not the time for self-induced prophesies saying it’s over when the spiritual and mental work to get it done is not yet complete.

“We shouldn’t create false impressions. For the spiritual no single man will get us out. It will take small groups praying all over to breakthrough.”
