Former Military President, Ibrahim Babangida (IBB) says military governments in Nigeria fared better in tackling corruption than their civilian counterparts.

He stated this in a viral interview with Arise News on Friday.

Babangida recalled when he sacked a military governor of a state for embezzling N313,000.

The former Nigerian leader lamented that people that have embezzled billions since the return to civilian rule in 1999 are still walking freely.

“Well on that, you can’t compare it with the facts on the ground now. You can say it. From what I read, from analysis, I think we are saints when compared to what is happening under a democratic dispensation.

“I sacked a governor for misappropriating less than N313,000.

“Today, those who have stolen billions and are in court are now parading themselves on the streets. Who else is better in fighting corruption?” Babangida queried.
