Court Orders Arrest of Acting PDP Chairman

According to the Sun, a high court judge, Justice Ibrahim Buba has ordered the arrest of anyone parading themselves as the Acting chairman of the PDP pending the suit before it.

The court had earlier made an order stopping the PDP convention. The convention went on anyway and during the convention PDP chairman, Alimodu Sheriff was ‘sacked’  and replaced by Ahmed Makarfi who was to play the Acting chairman of the party.

The court were apparently unhappy with this and Buba ruled on the case with suit number FHC/L/CS/613/2016, in favour of the acting national chairman of the party, Ali Modu Sheriff; the national secretary, Adewale Oladipo; and national auditor, Fatai Adeyanju which will then make the convention that held over the weekend void till the suit before it is settled.

The plaintiffs in the suit, national officers of the party have complained that their tenures are not yet over and that allowing the convention and the decisions made to stand would mean that their mandates would be abridged.

Ahmed Makarfi was appointed acting chairman of the PDP after the party ousted controversial chairman, Alimodu Sheriff.
